"This book, these and other relevant questions on space technology export controls are identified and assessed through an insightful case-study of the U.S. commercial communication export control regime. The findings of this case-study are used in an international legal-political analysis of international space law, public international law, and international cooperation. Breaking new ground in international legal theory, a self-justified security dilemma that is manifest in international law is identified and explained as the origin for the current paradigm of space technology export controls."

"This book focuses on four themes : (1) evolving earth’s crust, (2) changing Baltic Sea, (3) climate change, and (4) planet earth, third stone from sun. The focus on these four topics provides both a state of the art review of earth science topics of particular importance to Scandinavia and the Baltic and also the global context in which a consideration of these topics must be made. It finishes by discussing our use of space born technologies for understanding these topics and places the earth within the context of our neighbouring planets and their satellites. "

"This text covers the history and development of air and space law: their interrelationships; their relationships with the law of the seas and the law of Antarctica; institutions working in the field of air and space law; sovereignty in national airspace; freedom of exploration and use of outer space; public international air law; penal air law; private international air law, especially liability law; and public and private space law. Much attention is devoted to the law of air commerce: bilateral air services agreements; inter-airline co-operation; the effects of competition, antitrust and European Union law; deregulation, privatisation and commercialisation of air transport; ownership and control of airlines, and airline alliances; multilateralisation of air transport; and congestion and environmental controls. The last chapter of the book briefly deals with the legal aspects of commercial outer space applications. Increasingly, air transport, both in fact and in law, is becoming an ordinary industry like any other and is being treated as such. Rapidly, commercial outer space activities are being privatised and commercialised"

"This monograph addresses the legal and policy issues relating to the commercial exploitation of natural resources in outer space. It begins by establishing the economic necessity and technical feasibility of space mining today, an estimate of the financial commitments required, followed by a risk analysis of a commercial mining venture in space, identifying the economic and legal risks. This leads to the recognition that the legal risks must be minimised to enable such projects to be financed. This is followed by a discussion of the principles of international space law, particularly dealing with state responsibility and international liability, as well as some of the issues arising from space mining activities. The monograph then attempts to balance such interests in creating a legal and policy compromise to create a new regulatory regime."

"The book describes the recent trends in space policy and the space sector overall. While maintaining a global scope with a European perspective, it links space policy with other policy areas, highlights major events, and provides insights on the latest data. The Yearbook includes the proceedings of ESPIs 12th Autumn Conference, which discussed the growing importance of Security in Outer Space and the stakes for civilian space programmes in the public and private sectors. Bringing together satellite operators, SMEs, European and American institutions, and think tanks, the Autumn Conference served as platform for fresh insights on security in outer space and the potential of transatlantic relations to address its challenges. The Yearbook also includes executive summaries of ESPI's work in 2017 as well as ESPIs 2017 Executive Briefs, covering topics such as suborbital spaceflight, super heavy lift launch vehicles, collaboration with China, and the delimitation of outer space."

Outer Space, as a common-heritage-of-mankind territory was guaranteed the freedom of use by the Outer Space Treaty of 1967. However, this treaty alone did not cover the whole aspects of military activity in Space. Such “incompletion” was why the United States and China conducted “military testing” of antisatellite weapons. Both Nations have, consistently showed that their practice in Outer Space was “non-aggressive”, as to their understanding of the peaceful purposes stipulation under the treaty. Hence, it is within this thesis to revisit all relevant international law sources, as a way to comprehensively understand the alternative legal basis to military activities in Outer Space. This thesis will also analyze experts’ opinion on military activity in Outer Space and their understanding of the relevant international law sources. Based on this analysis it can also be advised that there is an emerging need to revisit the law to Outer Space internationally, especially on the matter of military activities.
