"Article aimed to describe language learners' belief system and to investigate how significance the language learners' beliefs are between them in language learning. Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, this research took 111 female- and 32 male-first semester college-students majoring in English Education as respondents. The instrument was 34 item BALLI questionnaire designed by Horwitz. The findings of the research showed that females and males language beliefs about language learning are mostly in similar fashion. The significant differences in responses were on the beliefs related to language and intelligence, enjoyment in practicing English, learning English-speaking cultures having English-speaking friends, and motivation in learning English.

"Fungsi afektif keluarga berupa dukungan dan kasih sayang dapat mendukung gaya belajar mahasiswa. Gaya belajar yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini meliputi visual (belajar melalui apa yang dilihat), auditorial (belajar melalui apa yang didengar) dan kinesterik (belajar melalui gerak dan sentuhan). Peneiitian ini merupakan penelitian korelatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pola/gaya belajar dengan fungsi afektif keluarga dengan desain cross sectional. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 96 mahasiswa regular angkatan 2008 FIK UI. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah random sederhana. Diperoleh bahwa fungsi afektif keluarga untuk mendukung gaya belajar mahasiswa adekuat pada 55 orang mahasiswa dan 41 orang mahasiswa tidak adekuat.
Dari penelitian disimpulkan tidak ada hubungan pola belajar dengan fungsi afektif keluarga pada mahasiswa reguler angkatan 2008 (p = 0,145). Hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada mahasiswa dan keluarga terkait gaya belajar. Saran bagi peneliti selanjutnya adalah memperluas area penelitian.

The form of family affection function are support and affection. It can support the learning style of student Learning style which is discussed in this research are visual leaming, auditorial learning and kinestetik Ieaming. This research was a correlative researched and used cross sectional design which has a purpose to know relation between learning style and family affection function of student in Faculty of Nursing University of Indonesia 2008. The sample in this research was 96 student in Faculty of Nursing University of Indonesia 2008. Sampling technique which is used in this research was simple nandom. The result is that family affection function to support the student?s learning style student is adekuat of 55 student and 41 student do not adekuat.
The conclusion from this research, there was not a relation between learning style and family affection function of student in Faculty of Nursing University of Indonesia 2008 (p=0,145). The result from this research can be used for give knowledge to student in college and family from learning style. Recommend for next researcher research area become wider.
