"Multiphase flows are typically described assuming that the different phases are separated by a sharp interface, with appropriate boundary conditions. This approach breaks down whenever the lengthscale of the phenomenon that is being studied is comparable with the real interface thickness, as it happens, for example, in the coalescence and breakup of bubbles and drops, the wetting and dewetting of solid surfaces and, in general, im micro-devices. The diffuse interface model resolves these probems by assuming that all quantities can vary continuously, so that interfaces have a non-zero thickness. This book review the theory and describe some relevant applications of the diffuse interface model for one-component, two-phase fluids and for liquid binary mixtures, to model multiphase flows in confined geometries. "Multi-phase flows are part of our natural environment such as tornadoes, typhoons, air and water pollution and volcanic activities as well as part of industrial technology such as power plants, combustion engines, propulsion systems, or chemical and biological industry. The industrial use of multi-phase systems requires analytical and numerical strategies for predicting their behavior. In its fourth extended edition the successful monograph package “Multiphase flow daynmics” contains theory, methods and practical experience for describing complex transient multi-phase processes in arbitrary geometrical configurations, providing a systematic presentation of the theory and practice of numerical multi-phase fluid dynamics.
In the present first volume the local volume and time averaging is used to derive a complete set of conservation equations for three fluids each of them having multi components as constituents. Large parts of the book are devoted on the design of successful numerical methods for solving the obtained system of partial differential equations. Finally the analysis is repeated for boundary fitted curvilinear coordinate systems designing methods applicable for interconnected multi-blocks. "

Many industry in Indonesia using automation system based on Programmable Logic Control, but the growth in vocational schools and colleges still rarely feels the utility, especially in Mechanical Engineering Department University of Indonesia. The growth of PLC for industrial in Indonesia has increased rapidly such as Festo, Omron, Siemens and others. Because of that reason should have a training module of demo rig about Programmable Logic Control as one of learning medium for helping college students in their studying processes that has relationship with mechatronic and automation system. This research limited only for the classification Input/Output (I/O) or known as equipment structing generally used for Programmable Logic Control, installation and wiring simplification, and there is also a program that could applied in PLC language program called 'Control Flow Diagram'. Design activity and module arrangement started with literature and field studied for determining Input/Output types that usually use in PLC control system and also in installation and wiring. The next steps are choosing input/output (I/O), making wiring installation and programming module. Final result for this research is a demo rig automation system process of material handling module as example from automation system processes of material handling for automation industry."
