Menggunakan kebudayaan materi yang berasal dari sisa aktivitas industri pertambangan timah yang berkembang di Pulau Belitung sejak tahun 1852. Museum sebagai sebuah lembaga mempunyai kewajiban untuk melayani masyarakat dan mengkomunikasikan benda budaya serta lingkungannya untuk kepentingan pendidikan dan kesenangan. Melalui konsep open-air museum di kawasan pertambangan timah, masyarakat Pulau Belitung akan mengetahui tentang perubahan sosial budaya serta pertambangan timah sebagai memori kolektif masyarakat Pulau Belitung. Informasi mengenai kebudayaan materi yang disampaikan kepada masyarakat adalah kebudayaan materi yang telah diberikan pemaknaan.

This thesis discusses the existing tin mining island of Belitung. Using material culture derived from the residual activity of the tin mining industry that flourished in Belitung Island since 1852. Museum as an institution has an obligation to serve the public and communicating material culture and its environment for the purposes of education and enjoyment. Through the concept of open-air museum in the tin mining island of Belitung people will know about the culture and social change in tin mining island of Belitung people's, as collective memory. Information about the material culture presented to the public is the material culture that has been given meaning."

"Tesis ini membahas tentang konsep open-air museum sebagai salah satu jenis museum yang berlandaskan pada paradigma new museology. Lokasi penelitian di Kawasan Cagar Budaya Trowulan, Kabupaten Mojokerto Provinsi Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan strategi studi kasus dan tahapan penelitian meliputi pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, dan integrasi data (kesimpulan). Hasil penelitian ini dapat merumuskan konsep dan model open-air museum yang dapat dikembangkan di Kawasan Cagar Budaya Trowulan. Pada intinya, open-air museum tersebut berupa bangunan-bangunan monumental yang berada di situs aslinya (in situ) disertai dengan interpretasi tentang aktivitas manusia pendukungnya yang diintegrasikan dalam sebuah tema tata pamer. Tema tata pamer yang disajikan adalah tentang multikultural dari masa Kerajaan Majapahit.

This thesis research the concept of open-air museum as a kind of museum that is based on the paradigm of new museology. Research location in the Heritage Regions Trowulan, Mojokerto, East Java Province. This research is a qualitative research with strategy case studies, and research stages include data collection, data processing, and data integration (conclusion). The research results can formulate concepts and models of open-air museum that can be developed in the Cultural Heritage Regions Trowulan. In essence, an open-air museum in the form of monumental buildings that were on the original site (in situ) accompanied by supporting the interpretation of human activities are integrated in a theme exhibition layout. Exhibition layout theme presented is about multicultural from the Majapahit Kingdom."

"Tesis ini membahas tentang konsep museum situs dan open-air museum yang sesuai dengan kondisi sejarah, sosial, budaya, dan kondisi geografis Indonesia. Dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan tiga buah museum yang ada di Indonesia, yaitu Taman Arkeologi Onrust, Museum Situs Kepurbakalaan Banten Lama, dan Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. Rumusan konsep tersebut diperoleh dengan mengacu pada rumusan konsep museum situs dan open-air museum di dunia serta perkembangan museum, museum situs dan open-air museum sejak awal mula pembentukannya hingga saat ini, terutama museum situs dan open-air museum di kawasan Mediterania, India, dan Eropa. The focus of this study is the site museum and open-air museum concepts that suitable with the Indonesia?s historical background, social and culture, and also geographical condition. This study using three museum as the cases study, such as Taman Arkeologi Onrust (Onrust Archaeological Park), Museum Situs Kepurbakalaan Banten (Banten Archaeological Site Museum), and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. The formulation of the concept of site museum and open-air museum were gained by extracting the formulation of site museum and open air museum in the world and its history, especially those museums and open air museum in Mediterania, India, and Europe. This research is qualitative descriptive interpretative. The data were collected by means of literature study, observation, and interview. Conclusion of the research are concept of the site museum and open-air museum that suitable for Indonesia condition."

"This book describes two different museums using construction technology as the common language that brings architecture and engineering together. The first is the Museum of the Ibere Camargo Foundation at Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, by Álvaro Siza and GOP, and the second is the Coach Museum at Lisbon in Portugal, by Paulo Mendes da Rocha and AFAconsult. Both projects put special emphasis on the design process as a construction language, achieved by a close collaboration promoted by the integrated design methodology that both teams follow.
