"This book provides a new paradigm for evacuation planning strategies and techniques. Recently, evacuation planning and modeling have increasingly attracted interest among researchers as well as government officials. This interest stems from the recent catastrophic hurricanes and weather-related events that occurred in the southeastern United States (Hurricane Katrina and Rita). The evacuation methods that were in place before and during the hurricanes did not work well and resulted in thousands of deaths. This book offers insights into the methods and techniques that allow for implementing mathematical-based, simulation-based, and integrated optimization and simulation-based engineering approaches for evacuation planning."

"This thesis has focus study in traffic management using intelligent transportation system in urban area. The goal of this thesis is to improve the traffic management and space optimization using Intelligent Autonomous Vehicle (IAV) by describing traffic flow in macroscopic level. The two fluid model is appropriate model which provides characteristics of the performance of traffic flow on an urban road network. The model can generate a relationship between trip time, stop time and running time per km. To apply the model, the traffic data that obtained by using the traffic simulator of SCANeRTM studio."

"This book introduces concepts and technologies of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). It describes state of the art safety communication protocol called Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC), currently being considered for adoption by the USDOT and automotive industry in the US. However, the principles of this book are applicable even if the underlying physical layer protocol of V2X changes in the future, e.g. V2X changes from DSRC to cellular-based connectivity."

V2X changes from DSRC to cellular-based connectivity.
Fundamental ITS concepts include topics like global positioning system; Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Pedestrian (V2P), and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communications; human-machine interface; and security and privacy. Fundamental concepts are sometimes followed by the real-life test experimental results (such as in V2P Chapter) and description of the performance metrics used to evaluate the results. This book also describes equations and math used in the development of the individual parts of the system.
This book surveys current and previous publications for trending research in the ITS domain. It also covers state of the art standards that are in place for the DSRC in the US, starting from the application layer defined in SAE J2735 all the way to physical layer defined in IEEE 802.11.
The authors provide a detailed discussion on what is needed to extend the current standards to accommodate future needs of the vehicle communications, such as needs for future autonomous vehicles. Programs and code examples accompany appropriate chapters, for example, after describing remote vehicle target classification function a pseudo code and description is provided. In addition, the book discusses current topics of the technology such as spectrum sharing, simulation, security, and privacy.
The intended audience for this book includes engineering graduate students, automotive professionals/engineers, researchers and technology enthusiasts."

The topic of this work discusses urban traffic management using intelligent transportation system. The two fluid model is a macroscopic modeling technique which provides characteristics of the performance of traffic flow on an urban road network. The model does this by generating a relationship between trip time, stop time and running time per km. Here, we take SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District) Jakarta, Indonesia as a study area. The network was then modeled in scaner studio simulator. Data collected in 2008 and to predict the traffic volume in 2011, we use traffic growth index for Jakarta.
According to the work presented in this report, the use of IAV in urban environment can improve traffic management since it has shorter time than the use of conventional vehicle. With its ability to reconfigure itself if there is a fault, it has no impact with any other vehicle behind and congestion can be avoided. It means that if we compare parameters quality of traffic by using only IAV (n = 0.01 and Tm = 2.24) is better than using only conventional vehicles (n = 0.03 and Tm = 2.37). Average mean speed for IAV 13.61 km/h and for conventional vehicle 12.02 km/h, it means IAV can save more travel time than manual vehicle. Other benefit of using IAV is environmental friendly since it use electrical power and it can reduce pollution.
