"This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Discovery Science, DS 2012, held in Lyon, France, in October 2012. The 22 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 46 submissions. The field of discovery science aims at inducing and validating new scientific hypotheses from data. "[ABSTRAKHarimau memangsa ternak merupakan bentuk konflik manusia-harimau yangpaling umum di banyak negara termasuk di Indonesia. Konflik ini menyebabkankerugian ekonomi masyarakat. Salah satu upaya untuk mencegah predasi ternakadalah dengan membangun kandang ternak anti serangan harimau atau TigerProof Enclosure (TPE). TPE dapat melindungi ternak, akan tetapi TPE yang tidakterawat akan berkurang kekuatannya untuk mencegah serangan harimau. Menuruttheory of planned behavior, perilaku dapat diprediksi dari intensi. Menguatkanprediktor utama intensi akan meningkatkan intensi perilaku. Norma subyektifmerupakan prediktor utama intensi suami merawat TPE dan istri merupakansignificant others yang memiliki pengaruh paling besar pada norma subyektifsuami dalam merawat TPE. Oleh karena itu fokus intervensi pada penelitian iniadalah untuk meningkatkan dukungan istri terhadap perilaku suami merawat TPE.Setelah intervensi, diperoleh peningkatan dukungan istri yang signifikan secarastatistik (t = 2.491, df = 23, p = .020).

"Dewa Singa Angin adalah dewa pelindung yang dipuja sejak zaman nenek moyang Kinmen karena melindungi penduduk dari bencana alam dan roh jahat. Penelitian ini mengangkat objek Dewa Singa Angin, bertujuan untuk mengkaji perubahan maknanya dari masa ke masa dan relevansinya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat Kinmen di masa kini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif melalui studi pustaka dan survei lapangan berupa angket kepada 40 penduduk Kinmen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Dewa Singa Angin di Kinmen di satu sisi memainkan makna tradisional sebagai pelindung dan penangkal roh jahat, di sisi lain telah mengalami transformasi makna sebagai simbol budaya, atraksi wisata, dan elemen seni kreatif. Meskipun transformasi makna Dewa Singa Angin sangat nyata terlihat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari di Kinmen, namun hasil survei lapangan menunjukkan bahwa makna tradisionalnya yang bersifat spiritual dan identik dengan kelokalan masih tetap dipertahankan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Dewa Singa Angin terus memainkan peran penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat Kinmen.

The Wind Lion God is a protective deity venerated since the ancestors' time in Kinmen, known for safeguarding the inhabitants from natural disasters and evil spirits. This research focuses on the Wind Lion God, aiming to examine the evolution of its meaning over time and its relevance in the contemporary daily life of the Kinmen people. The research method employed is qualitative, utilizing a literature review and surveys, including questionnaires distributed to 40 Kinmen residents. The results indicate that the Wind Lion God in Kinmen, on one hand, maintains its traditional meaning as a protector and warder off of evil spirits, while on the other hand, has undergone a transformation in its meaning into a cultural symbol, a tourist attraction, and an element of creative arts. Despite the significant transformation of the Wind Lion God's meaning in daily life in Kinmen, survey results show that its traditional spiritual meaning and local identity are still preserved. This indicates that the Wind Lion God continues to play a significant role in the lives of the people of Kinmen."
