"Campuran madu, dan ekstrak lengkuas merah serta minyak jahe merah banyak manfaatnya, namun campuran ini bersifat tidak stabil karena memiliki sifat kepolaran yang berbeda. Untuk menstabilkannya diperlukan emulsifier, penelitian ini menggunakan emulsifier tween 80 dan lesitin. Campuran tanpa emulsifier yang stabil diperoleh pada penambahan ekstrak jahe merah sebanyak 2 mL dan ekstrak lengkuas merah sebanyak 4 mL dalam 100 mL madu. Sedangkan campuran dengan emulsifier paling stabil didapat pada penambahan tween 80 sebanyak 3 mL dan lesitin sebanyak 2 gram dalam 100 mL. Penambahan emulsifier ke dalam campuran menyebabkan viskositas rata-rata campuran meningkat sebesar 100-700 cPs, tegangan permukaan menurun sebesar 10-20 dynes/cm, diameter partikel mengecil hingga 500-600 nm dan densitas serta pH campuran yang relatif stabil. Dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tween 80 merupakan emulsifier yang lebih baik dibanding lesitin untuk campuran madu, ekstrak jahe merah dan lengkuas merah.

A mixture of Honey, Red Galangal Extract and Red Ginger Extract many benefit, however this mixture is not stable because of its differing polarities. Stabilization required an emulsifier, this study used a tween 80 and lecithin emulsifier commonly used in the food industry. Without an emulsifier, the most stable mixture possible is up to 2 ml red ginger extract and up to 4 ml red galangal extract in 100 mL. With emulsifier, the most stable mixture can be obtained by adding up to 3 ml tween 80 and up to 2 ml lecithin in 100 mL. Adding emulsifier to mixture raises the mixture’s viscosity amounted to 100-700 cPs and decreased surface tension amounted to 10-20 dynes/cm, decreased particle diameter to 500-600 nm and relativity stable mixture density and pH. From this study, it can be concluded that tween 80 is a better emulsifier than lecithin for a mixture of honey, red ginger and galangal extracts."

"Telah dilakukan pengukuran tegangan permukaan , stabilitas emulsi , dan aktivitas emulsi terhadap lesitin termodifikasi hasil hidrolisis enzimatik menggunakan fosfolipase A2 .
Dispersi 0,05 %(blv) lesitin termodifikasi dalam air teryata mampu menurunkan tegangan permukaan sekitar 50 % dibanding lesitin awal, menjadi 30 dyne/cm. Sedangkan dispersi 0,013 %(blv) lesitin termodifikasi setelah mengalami pemisahan asam lemak bebasnya mampu menurunkan tegangan permukaan sekitar 25 % , menjadi 50 dyne/cm.
Stabilitas emulsi (01W) dan aktivitas emulsi lesitin termodifikasi ternyata lebih rendah dibanding lesitin awal. Dispersi 0,05 %(blv) lesitin termodifikasi mengalami penurunan stabilitas emulsi 45 %, sedangkan dispersi 0,013 % lesitin termodifikasi yang telah mengalami pemisahan asam lemak bebasnya turun 38 %. Lesitin termodifikasi ternyata meningkatkan stabilitas emulsi (W/0). Uji terhadap 0,12 %(b/v) dispersi lesitin termodifikasi ternyata meningkatkan stabilitas emulsi (W/0) sebesar 12 %.
Penurunan tegangan permukaan lesitin termodifikasi disebabkan adanya perubahan struktur molekul dan komposisi individual fosfolipid yang ada didalarnnya, sehingga menjadikannya lebih mudah mengadsorpsikan din ke permukaan . Diduga adanya sinergestik antara lisofosfolipid dengan asam lemak bebas dalam menurunkan tegangan permukaan melalui solubilisasi.
Penurunan stabilitas emulsi (OIW) dan aktivitas emulsi lesitin termodifikasi disebabkan adanya peningkatan karakter hidrofilik dari lisofosfolipid hasil hidrolisis, sehingga diduga meningkatkan HLB-nya. Komponen individual surfaktan yang diduga paling berperan dalam meningkatkan stabilitas emulsi (W/O) lesitin termodifikasi adalah asam lemak bebas dan lisofosfatidiietanolamin.
Uji statistika menunjukkan adanya beda nyata antara tegangan permukaan dan stabilitas emulsi lesitin termodifikasi dibanding kontrol, tetapi tidak ada beda nyata antar taraf perlakuan pada dua kondisi percobaan yang dilakukan. Variasi konsentrasi lesitin dan variasi waktu reaksi ternyata tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap perubahan tegangan permukaan , stabilitas emulsi dan aktifitas emulsi antar lesitin termodifikasi.

We examined surface tension, emulsion stability, and emulsion activity shown by aqueous dispersion of lecithin product hydrolyzed with phospholipase A2. The result showed significant decreasing of surface tension and it can be compared to Aerosol-DT, which is the most effective commercial wetting agent. On the other hand, lecithin hydrolyzed decreased on the stability and the activity of oil in water emulsion (01W), vice versa it enhanced the stability of water in oilemulsion (W/O).
Improvement on surface properties of the hydrolyzed lecithin caused by structure of lysolecithin molecule which preferred to adsorb at surface. While, improvement on hydrophylic character of lysophospholipid also reduced properties of oil in water emulsion . It is suggested that synergetic effect occurs between free fatty acids with lysophosphatydylethanolamine in hydrolyzed lecithin which are predominantly enhanced the stability of water in oil emulsion .
No significant result was observed by various concentration and time reaction applied on the experiment upon surface and emulsion properties of lecithin hydrolyzed.

"Lecithin is needed as a bioemulsifier product in stabilizing agents for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries due to its renewability and as it is environmentally friendly. In the food industry, most of the emulsifiers used are the oil-in-water (O/W) type. Lecithin can be seen as a promising emulsifier product because it is extracted from egg yolk and modified by enzymatic hydrolysis reaction using the papain enzyme. This modification will change the molecular structure of the compound, which makes lecithin more stable in the oil-in-water type of emulsion. This study aims to determine the optimum amount of papain enzyme used in the hydrolysis reaction to achieve the most stable O/W lecithin emulsion type. The results show that the breaking of a single fatty acid chain from the structure of lecithin can be demonstrated by FTIR instrumentation. The fatty acids detected from the lecithin structure are shown at wavenumber 1699.45 cm-1 (C=O), 1231.44 cm-1 (C-O), 1422.45 cm-1 (C-O-H), 1092.85 cm-1 (C-C), 665.89 cm-1 (CH2), and 3400.57 (-OH in carboxylate). Determination of the modified lecithin yield was made by several tests, namely a stability test, and tests for acid value, surface tension and zeta potential. From the results of tests, the emulsion stability for the O/W type was achieved in modified-lecithin using a 4% papain enzyme dosage, with a stability duration of up to 31 hours. The lowest acid number was achieved in modified-lecithin using a 2% papain enzyme dosage with value of 10.40. The lowest surface tension was obtained in modified-lecithin using a 2% papain enzyme dosage with a surface tension value of 48.68 dyne/cm. The zeta potential of the modified-lecithin using a 2% papain enzyme had a value of -94.8 mV. These results show that the enzymatic hydrolysis of lecithin using a papain enzyme is clearly able to enhance the emulsifier properties of the lecithin produced."

"Pada penelitian ini dipelajari stabilitas madu, minyak jahe merah, dan minyak serai. Campuran madu, minyak jahe merah, serta minyak serai memiliki banyak manfaat akan tetapi campuran ini tidak stabil, karena memiliki sifat kepolaran atau fase zat-zat penyusunnya yang berbeda. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini digunakan Tween 80 sebagai emulsifier Food Grade untuk menstabilkan campuran tersebut.
Dari penelitian ini diperoleh campuran madu, minyak jahe merah, dan minyak serai yang stabil dengan penambahan emulsifier Tween 80, pada komposisi perbandingan volume masingmasing 100ml : 4ml : 2ml dan Tween 80 sebanyak 3ml. Penggunaan emulsifier tween 80 optimal sebanyak 4 ml ternyata mampu menstabilkan campuran baik densitas,tegangan permukaan, dan viskositas selama 5 minggu.

In this research, studied the stability of mixture honey, red ginger oil, and lemongrass oil. A mixture of honey, red ginger oil, and lemongrass oil has many benefits, but the mixture was not stabled, because it has a polarity or phase properties of substances of different constituent. Therefore, in this study used Tween 80 as emulsifier Food Grade to stabilizer the mixture.
This study obtained a mixture of honey, red ginger oil, and lemongrass oil was a stable with the addition of Tween 80 emulsifier, the composition ratio of volume for each 100ml: 4ml: 2ml and 3ml as Tween 80. Tween 80 emulsifier optimal use as much as 4 ml was able to stabilize a good mixture density, surface tension, and viscosity for 5 weeks.

"ABSTRAK
Formulasi, Karakterisasi, dan Evaluasi in vivo Fitosom Luteolin Dalam penelitian ini, telah dikembangkan fitosom luteolin, suatu sistempenghantaran obat baru. Luteolin dilaporkan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan,antimikroba, dan antiinflamasi namun memiliki ketersediaan hayati oral yang rendahkarena memiliki kelarutan dalam lipid yang rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalahuntuk meningkatkan absorpsi luteolin dalam saluran cerna. Fitosom luteolin dibuatdengan metode hidrasi lapis tipis, kemudian dikarakterisasi menggunakan ParticleSize Analyzer PSA , mikroskop transmisi elektron TEM , dan spektrofotometerFourier Transforms Infrared FTIR . Larutan luteolin dalam metanol dan larutanfosfatidilkolin dalam diklorometan direfluks 4 jam, 60oC , kemudian pelarutdiuapkan menggunakan vacuum evaporator 337 mbar, 40oC untuk membentuklapis tipis yang kemudian dihidrasi dengan air suling. Evaluasi in vivo kemudiandilakukan untuk melihat kadar plasma luteolin pada tikus yang diberi suspensifitosom luteolin per oral dan dibandingkan dengan kadar plasma luteolin pada tikusdalam kelompok kontrol yang diberi suspensi luteolin murni. Hasil karakterisasimenunjukkan partikel fitosom luteolin berbentuk spheric dengan diameter rata-ratapartikel 105,3 nm dan efisiensi penjerapan 91,12 . Spektrum FTIR menunjukkanbahwa pembentukan fitosom terjadi karena adanya interaksi ikatan hidrogen antaraluteolin dengan fosfatidilkolin yang ditandai dengan munculnya puncak baru padabilangan gelombang 1360 cm-1 dan perubahan intensitas pita pada bilangangelombang 1730 cm-1. Hasil evaluasi in vivo menunjukkan peningkatan kadarplasma luteolin AUC = 5426 ?g.menit/mL sebesar 3,54 kali jika dibandingkandengan kelompok kontrol. Formulasi fitosom yang dibuat berhasil meningkatkanabsopsi luteolin sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai sistem penghantaran yangmenjanjikan untuk obat-obat dengan kelarutan dalam lipid yang rendah. ABSTRACT
Formulation, Characterization, and in vivo Evaluation of Luteolin Loaded Phytosome In this study, a novel drug delivery system, luteolin loaded phytosome LLP hasbeen developed. Luteolin exhibits antioxidant, antimicrobial, andantiinflammation activities. However, it shows poor oral bioavailability due to itslow lipid solubility. The aim of this study was to improve absorption of luteolin inthe gastro intestinal tract. The LLPs were prepared by thin film hydration methodand characterized using particle size analyzer PSA , transmission electronmicroscopy TEM , and fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy FTIR . Thesolution of luteolin in methanol and phosphatidilcholine solution indichloromethane were refluxed 4h, 60 oC , solvents then removed by vacuumevaporator 337 mbar, 40oC to produce the thin film which was hydrated withdistilled water. In vivo evaluations were then performed to see plasma levels ofluteolin in rats given oral luteolin phytosome suspension and compared with thosein the control group given pure luteolin suspension. Final phytosome wasspherical with average particle size of 105.3 nm and entrapment efficiency of91.12 . FTIR spectra demonstrated that phytosomes were formed, as there washydrogen bonding between luteolin and phosphatidilcholine, marked byappearance of new peak at wave numbers of 1360 cm 1 and changes in bandintensity at 1730 cm 1 wave numbers. In vivo studies showed a 3.54 fold increasein plasma level AUC AUC 5426 g.min mL of luteolin compared with thosein control group. Phytosomes formulation successfully increased the absorption ofluteolin hence it can serve as a promising delivery system for drugs with lowlipids solubility. "Tujuan penelitian ini mempelajari stabilitas madu, minyak habbatussauda dan minyak zaitun. Campuran madu, minyak habbatussauda dan minyak zaitun memiliki banyak manfaat akan tetapi campuran ini sering tidak stabil karena memiliki sifat kepolaran atau fase yang berbeda. Pada penelitian ini digunakan Tween 80 yang merupakan emulsifier Food Grade untuk menstabilkan campuran tersebut.
Diharapkan penelitian ini diperoleh campuran madu, minyak habbatusssauda dan minyak zaitun dengan penambahan emulsifier. Dari hasil penambahan 1,25 gram Tween 80 dapat mencampurkan total minyak 7,5% didalam total seluruh campuran. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan melihat partikel yang terdistribusi dengan baik, fasa yang terpisah dari hasil sentrifugasi, serta penyimpanan selama 8 minggu.

The purpose of this study to view stability a mixture of honey, black seed oil and olive oil. There have many benefits and widely distributed in the market. However, this mixture has instability problem because it has different properties of polarity or phase, to solve this problem required emulsifier Tween 80, an emulsifier food grade to stabilize the mixture.
This research is expected to be aimed for mixture with the addition of the emulsifier. In the addition of 1,25 grams Tween 80 could mix up to 7,5% of total oil in the mixture. Those are showing process of the distribution particle, viscosity measurement, phase separation by sentrifugation and storage for 8 weeks in room temperature.

"Minyak sawit merah merupakan minyak sawit murni berwarna jingga hingga merah serta mengandung karotenoid dan vitamin E dalam jumlah tinggi. Kandungan pada minyak sawit merah tersebut dapat berpotensi sebagai antioksidan pada suatu produk kosmetika. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan pembuatan nanoemulsi dengan tujuan meningkatkan stabilitas vitamin E yang mudah teroksidasi akibat paparan cahaya dan lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat antioksidan pada minyak sawit merah, karakteristik dan parameter mutu minyak sawit merah sesuai dengan syarat mutu SNI, serta pembuatan nanoemulsi minyak sawit merah. Aktivitas antioksidan minyak sawit merah dan nanoemulsi diukur menggunakan metode penangkal radikal DPPH. Diagram fase pseudoterner yang menggambarkan area optimum nanoemulsi diperoleh berdasarkan hasil optimasi formula yang terdiri dari campuran minyak dan smix dan dianalisa menggunakan CHEMIX School 7.0. Nanoemulsi yang diperoleh memiliki ukuran partikel <500 nm, PDI 0,283-1,000, dan zeta potensial -3,39 hingga -41,43 mV. Minyak sawit merah mengandung kadar asam lemak bebas 0,95%, bilangan iod 58,60 g Iod/100 g, dan kadar air 0,01%. Kandungan asam lemak paling dominan pada minyak sawit merah berupa asam palmitat (46,15%) dan asam oleat (34,92%). Minyak sawit merah memiliki aktivitas antioksidan lemah dengan IC50 sebesar 8128,24 ppm. Pada penelitian ini, belum diperoleh formulasi nanoemulsi minyak sawit merah dengan karakteristik dan aktivitas antioksidan yang optimum.

Red palm oil is a refined palm oil that is orange to red in color and contains high amounts of carotenoids and vitamin E. The content of red palm oil can potentially be used as an antioxidant in a cosmetic product. Therefore, a nanoemulsion was made with the aim of increasing the stability of vitamin E which is easily oxidized due to exposure to light and the environment. This study aims to determine the antioxidant properties of red palm oil, the characteristics and quality parameters of red palm oil according to the SNI quality requirements, as well as the preparation of red palm oil nanoemulsions. Antioxidant activity of red palm oil and nanoemulsion was measured using the DPPH radical scavenging method. Pseudoternary phase diagram depicting the optimum area of the nanoemulsion was obtained based on the optimization of the formula consisting of a mixture of oil and smix and analyzed using CHEMIX School 7.0. The nanoemulsion obtained had a Dv90 <500 nm, PDI 0.283-1.000, and zeta potential -3.39 up to -41.43 mV. Red palm oil contains a free fatty acid content of 0.95%, an iodine number of 58.60 g Iod/100 g, and a moisture content of 0.01%. The most dominant fatty acid content in red palm oil is palmitic acid (46.15%) and oleic acid (34.92%). Red palm oil has weak antioxidant activity with an IC50 of 8128.24 ppm. In this study, nanoemulsion formulation of red palm oil with optimum characteristics and antioxidant activity was not obtained."

"ABSTRAK
Selulit sudah lama dikenal sebagai sejenis kegemukan yang terjadi pada jutaan
wanita di seluruh dunia dan berakibat pada penurunan nilai estetik. Berbagai
macam media banyak membahas mengenai penyakit ini beserta dengan berbagai
metode dan prosedur terapinya yang meliputi bedah, farmakologi, fitoterapi,
homeopati, elektromedis, kosmetik, atau mesoterapi fisiologi. Namun semuanya
itu memerlukan biaya yang cukup tinggi sehingga hanya tersedia bagi mereka
yang mampu membelinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh
sediaan krim campuran minyak nilam (Pogostemon cablin.L), minyak melati
(Jasminum sambac.L), dan minyak jahe merah (Zingiber officinale var rubrum)
untuk mengatasi selulit. Minyak nilam, minyak melati, dan minyak jahe merah
dibuat menjadi sediaan krim dengan konsentrasi masing-masing minyak 1.5%. Uji
stabilitas fisik sediaan krim uji dilakukan selama 12 minggu dan uji keamanan
kepada relawan menggunakan metode uji tempel. Uji manfaat dilakukan selama
28 hari pada area paha sebelah kanan. Sediaan krim uji menunjukkan kestabilan
selama 12 minggu dan hasil uji keamanan ada sedikit menimbulkan iritasi pada 1
orang dari total responden 46 orang. Hasil uji manfaat diukur dengan
menggunakan parameter fotografi, pengukuran lingkar paha, cutometer, dan
corneometer menunjukkan sediaan krim mampu menurunkan derajat selulit. Krim
uji terbukti memberikan hasil yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan dengan krim
plasebo, yaitu pada pemakaian krim selama 28 hari dan hasil statistik
menunjukkan ada perbedaan bermakna (p < 0,05).

ABSTRACT
Cellulite has been known as kind of obesity that occured in millions of women
around the world and resulted in decreasing aesthetic value. Various kinds of
media talked much about this disease along with the methods and procedures
including surgical therapy, pharmacology, phytotherapy, homeopathy,
electromedical, cosmetics, or mesotherapy physiology. But all of them are quite
high in cost, so they are only available to those who can afford them. The purpose
of this study is to determine the effect of the cream mixture preparation of
patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin.L), jasmine oil (Jasminum sambac.L), and red
ginger oil (Zingiber officinale var rubrum) to cure cellulite. Patchouli oil, jasmine
oil, and red ginger oil is mixed into a cream preparation with each concentration
contains 1.5%. The physical stability of test cream dosage was conducted from
over 12 weeks and the safety test was conducted to 46 volunteers on the right
thigh using patch test. The test was done in 28 days at the right thigh. Preparation
cream showed stability for 12 weeks and there is 1 out of 46 people that had
irritation while safety testing were being tested. The benefit results which are
measured by using photographic parameters, measurement of thigh
circumference, cutometer, and corneometer showed that the cream preparation is
capable of lowering the degree of cellulite. The mixture cream is proved to be
more significant in test results compared to placebo cream for 28 days therapy
(P<0.05)."

"Metode pengering beku dilakukan untuk preparasi matriks kitosan-alginat yang dimuati ekstrak oleoresin dari jahe merah untuk administrasi oral. Metode ini memiliki keuntungan dimana hilang nya zat aktif dalam proses preparasi dapat diminimalisir serta dapat menghasilkan persentase yield dan loading yang tinggi. Jahe telah diteliti mempunyai peran dalam pengobatan kanker, termasuk kanker kolom. Komponen [6]-gingerol dalam jahe telah diidentifikasi mempunyai peran dalam penekanan terhadap proses transformasi, hiperproliferasi, dan inflamasi di tahapan karsinogenesis, angiogenesis, serta metastasis. Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, dan Infrared Spectroscopy digunakan untuk mengkarakterisasi matriks.
Simulasi pelepasan obat in vitro juga dilakukan dalam simulated gastrointestinal fluids yang menghasilkan profil rilis untuk mempelajari efek komposisi kitosan-alginat terhadap rilis dari oleoresin. Alginate terbukti dapat menahan pelepasan oleoresin pada 2 jam pertama. Komposisi rasio kitosan:alginat terbaik yang didapatkan adalah 1:0.5. Profil rilis dari matriks mengindikasi adanya potensi matriks dapat menjadi sistem penghantar obat terkendali dengan kolon sebagai target hantaran dan metode pengeringan beku telah terbukti untuk menghasilkan persentase yield dan loading yang tinggi.

Freeze drying method was used for preparing chitosan alginate matrices loaded with oleoresin extract of red ginger for oral administration. This method has the benefit of minimalizing the loss of active substance during preparation and was also expected to give a high yield and loading result. Ginger has been researched to act as an active substance in the treatment of cancer, including colon cancer. The 6 gingerol content of ginger has been identified to have a role in suppression of transformation, hyperproliferation and inflammation process in carcinogenesis, angiogenesis, and metastasis steps. Scanning Electron Microscopy, X Ray Diffraction, and Infrared Spectroscopy was used to characterize the matrices.
An in vitro drug release simulation was done in simulated gastrointestinal fluids to obtain profile release in order to study the effect of chitosan alginate composition towards oleoresin release. Alginate was able to suppress the release of oleoresin in the first 2 hours. The best composition of chitosan to alginate ratio in matrix obtained was 1 0.5. The release profile obtained indicates the potential of these matrices being used as a controlled drug carrier for colon targeted delivery and freeze drying method was also proven to produce high yield and loading percentage of matrix.
