"ABSTRACTResearchers have started focusing their research on alternative fuels. During the last two decades, Dimethyl Ether (DME) has emerged as a new potential fuel to subtitute for oil and its derivatives. Raw materials for DME from sources such as coal, biomass, natural gas and also crude oil are spread all over the world so the interest is growing for using it as an energy source. While the technology for processing raw materials into DME is well established, the technology for DME applications for a wide range of usages is still being developed. The range of DME usage includes for automotive purposes, in industrial sectors, for household applications, and there is even fundamental research to discover more knowledge about DME safety and another technical considerations. Many research activities are now intensively been used to develop the technology for DME application. Some opportunities for discovering more application are also discussed in this paper."

"ABSTRAK A significant share of the U.S federal R&D budget is devoted to large-scale, complex technological system commonly referred to as "big science". Over the last two decades, these systems have continued to grow in size, complexity, development time, and cost. At the same time, political changes in the US, particulary the concern over goverment spending and the federal budget deficit, have made it more difficult for proponents to secure and preserve support for these programs over their (increasingly long) lifetimes. Using the U.S space shuttle and space station programs as examples, the article shows that the political requirements for obtaining approval and funding for large and expensive research and development projects create conditions that reduce the likelihood that they will succeed technologically. The problems of technology-based projects like those of the US space program are in fact deeply rooted in the American political process itself. "

"Berbagi dan menggunakan kembali pengetahuan pertanian sangat penting untuk pembangunan pertanian saat ini. Sayangnya, penyebaran pengetahuan dan informasi pertanian masih menjadi masalah di Indonesia, meskipun informasi mengenai pertanian terus meningkat. Kementerian Pertanian RI (Kementan) memiliki tanggungjawab akan hal tersebut, melalui Pusat Perpustakaan dan Penyebaran Teknologi Pertanian (PUSTAKA) Bogor, Kementan membangun repositori sebagai upaya untuk mengumpulkan, melestarikan, dan menyebarluaskan informasi terkait pertanian. Namun diketahui belum ada kajian atau evaluasi terkait peran PUSTAKA dalam mengembangkan repositori Kementan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, artikel ini berupaya untuk mengkaji peran PUSTAKA Bogor dalam mengembangkan Repositori Kementerian Pertanian khususnya dalam aspek pengumpulan koleksi, pengolahan, preservasi, evaluasi, integrasi, diseminasi, promosi, serta pendidikan pengguna. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus untuk pengumpulan dan analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PUSTAKA telah mampu menjalankan delapan perannya dalam pengembangan repositori dengan cukup baik. Namun ditemukan beberapa permasalahan dalam pengembangan repositori, salah satunya adalah belum adanya kebijakan tertulis terkait repositori yang menjadi permasalahan utama dalam pengembangan repositori Kementan.

Sharing and reusing agricultural knowledge is very crucial for agricultural development today. Unfortunately, the dissemination of knowledge and information on agriculture is still a problem in Indonesia, even though the information about agriculture keeps increasing. Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia (Kementan) has commitment for this, through the Pusat Perpustakaan dan Penyebaran Teknologi Pertanian (PUSTAKA) Bogor, Kementan has built a repository as an effort to collect, preserve, and disseminate Argricultural-related information. But, it is known that there is no study or evaluation regarding the role of PUSTAKA in developing repository of Kementan. Base on that, this article aims to examine the role of PUSTAKA in developing Repository of Kementan, especially in collecting content, processing, preserving, evaluating, integrating, disseminating, promoting, and educating users. The research uses a qualitative approach and case study methods for data collection and analysis. The research findings show that PUSTAKA has been able to carry out its eight roles in repository development quite well. However, several problems were found in development of the repository, one of which is the absence of written policies related to repositories which is the main problem in developing the repository of Kementan."
