"This study focuses on single young Indonesian's attitude and behavior regarding virginity and premarital sex. The transition from a traditional to a modem society has raised concern about changes in Indonesian young people's lives and values. in particular regarding premarital sex. Data used in this paper are based on the survey among 875 single young people age 15-24. in-depth interviews and focus group discussions conducted over a period of seven months (July l997-January l99S) in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Results suggest that young people in Medan are increasingly tolerant of premarital sex. Although for most of them a woman's virginity is a great concern. it is no longer seen as the most important factor in choosing a future spouse. The demise of parental arrangement of marriage and the growing opportunity to know the future spouse long before marriage mean that the potential wife?s personality is now of more significance than her virginity. Losing virginity does not necessarily losing respectability. Ol' 875 unmarried young people being studied. nine percent of women and 2? percent of men reported having had sex; these figures doubled for those who approved of premarital sex."

"Kualitas hidup merupakan indikator penting bagi kesehatan dan banyak aspek kehidupan ODHA LSL. Kualitas hidup dapat terganggu karena berbagai kondisi stres yang dialami ODHA LSL. Stres pada ODHA LSL terjadi karena masalah yang terkait dengan penyakit dan status orientasi seksual. Kondisi stres yang terus menerus terjadi, dapat berdampak pada penurunan kualitas hidup.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat hubungan antara tingkat stres dengan kualitas hidup ODHA LSL di Kota Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional dengan metode purposive sampling, jumlah sampel penelitian 176 responden. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu kuesioner Perceived Stress Scale dan WHOQOL-HIV BREF. Rata-rata responden berusia dewasa awal 18-40 tahun, berpendidikan menengah SMP-SMA, sebagian besar bekerja, terbanyak sebagai karyawan swasta, dan rata-rata terdiagnosis HIV selama 12 bulan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara tingkat stres dengan kualitas hidup ODHA LSL p=0,021. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya memperhatikan aspek psikososial ODHA LSL, mengembangkan intervensi yang berkontribusi lebih positif dalam menurunkan stres serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor lain yang mempengaruhi kualitas hidup ODHA LSL.

Quality of life is an important indicator for health and many aspects of MSM living. Quality of life can be disrupted due to various stress conditions experienced by PLWHA MSM. Stress on MSM is due to problems related to disease and sexual orientation status. Stressful conditions that occur continuously can have an impact on the decline in quality of life.

The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between stress level and quality of life of PLWHA in Medan City. This research uses cros sectional design with purposive sampling method, the number of research sample is 176 respondents. The instruments used are the Perceived Stress Scale questionnaire and WHOQOL HIV BREF. The average early adult respondents 18 40 years old, middle schooled SMP SMA, mostly worked, most were private employees, and were on average diagnosed with HIV for 12 months.

The result of this research that there is a correlation between stress level and quality of life of PLWHA p 0,021. This study recommends the importance of taking into account the psychosocial aspects of PLWHA MSM, developing interventions that are more positive in reducing stress and identifying other factors that affect the quality of life of PLWHA."
