"Self-esteem berperan banyak dalam perkembangan mental yang sehat dari seorang anak. Dengan memiliki rasa penghargaan diri yang positif, seorang anak akan bisa meraih kondisi optimal dari perkembangan mentalnya dan mencapai kebahagiaan hidup. Sebagaimana anak yang normal, seorang anak tuna grahita ringan juga membutuhkan self-esteem yang positif untuk perkembangan yang optimal dalam keterbatasan yang dimiliki. Untuk bisa memiliki self-esteem yang positif, seorang anak tuna grahita sangat membutuhkan dukungan yang positif pula dari ibunya.
Walaupun harapan akan dukungan ibu dalam pembentukan self-esteem yang positif pada anak tuna grahita ringan sangat dibutuhkan, ternyata kondisi kelainan pada anak dapat menimbulkan sikap yang negatif dari ibu. Hal ini disebabkan kondisi anak tuna grahita tidak sesuai dengan harapannya akan anak yang ideal. Padahal teori mengatakan bahwa sikap ibu akan mempengaruhi perlakuan ibu terhadap anak dan hubungan di antara mereka. Karena itu maka dirasa perlu untuk meneliti hubungan antara sikap ibu terhadap anaknya yang menyandang tuna grahita dan dukungan ibu dalam pembentukan self-esteem yang positif dari anaknya tersebut.
Pencarian data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pemberian kuesioner kepada ibu-ibu yang anaknya bersekolah di SLB-C. Kuesioner yang diberikan ada dua buah yaitu kuesioner sikap ibu dan kuesioner dukungan ibu dalam bentuk skala Likert. Perhitungan reliabilitas dilakukan dengan teknik koefisien Alpha Cronbach. Dari analisa reliabilitas terhadap kedua kuesioner didapat nilai alpha sebesar 0,7124 untuk kuesioner sikap ibu dan alpha 0,8471 untuk kuesioner dukungan ibu.
Hasil dari pengumpulan data menunjukkan rata-rata skor kelompok yang cukup tinggi pada kedua skala yaitu skala sikap ibu dan skala dukungan ibu. Perhitungan korelasi antara dua variabel yaitu variabel sikap dan dukungan menunjukkan indeks korelasi sebesar 0,538 yang signifikan pada LOS 0,01. Dengan demikian dapat dinyatakan adanya hubungan antara sikap ibu terhadap anaknya yang menyandang tuna grahita ringan dan dukungan ibu dalam pembentukan self-esteem yang positif dari anaknya tersebut. Untuk penelitian yang akan datang disarankan untuk melihat adanya social desirability pada kuesioner terutama untuk kuesioner yang membahas hal-hal yang sensitif seperti masalah sikap dan pengasuhan ibu."

"[Latar Belakang : Konflik relasi berpacaran rentan dialami oleh dewasa muda. Konflik yang tidak terselesaikan memunculkan kekerasan dalam pacaran. Kekerasan dalam pacaran mungkin terjadi dalam bentuk fisik, psikologis, seksual dan ekonomi. Riwayat pengalaman traumatis yang dialami sebelumnya oleh individu, membentuk self-esteem rendah pada individu dan membuka peluang pada individu untuk kembali terjebak pada relasi berkekerasan yang serupa, salah satunya kekerasan dalam pacaran. Self-esteem yang rendah mengakibatkan korban sulit untuk keluar dari siklus relasi berkekerasan tersebut. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi untuk meningkatkan self-esteem pada dewasa muda yang mengalami kekerasan dalam pacaran. Intervensi yang telah terbukti efektif dalam menangani self-esteem yang rendah adalah cognitive behavior therapy. Metode : Penelitian ini berupa intervensi CBT pada 4 orang partisipan. Desain penelitian ini termasuk dalam one group pretest-posttest design (before and after). Analisis : Analisis dilakukan dengan cara membandingkan data kuantitatif dari hasil pre-test dan post-test pada alat ukur RSES. Analisa kualitatif dilakukan melalui wawancara dan observasi terhadap perkembangan dan perubahan yang dialami partisipan. Hasil : CBT cukup berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan self-esteem pada partisipan, namun demikian intervensi selama 6 sesi pertemuan ini dirasa belum cukup untuk mengatasi permasalahan kekerasan dalam pacaran secara menyeluruh. Partisipan mengalami perubahan aspek kognitif dan perilaku. Partisipan merasa percaya diri dan nyaman terhadap penampilan fisik maupun kemampuan yang dimiliki. Partisipan memperoleh pemikiran yang lebih realistis untuk keluar dari relasi pacaran yang tidak sehat.

Dating violence may occur in physical, psychological, sexual, and economic matter. Previous traumatic events, experienced by individual, conceive low self-esteem and provide more possible chance for individual to get back to the same violence based relationship, including dating violence. Low self-esteem causes the victims to withdraw themselves from the violence-based relationship. Hence, interventions are required to enhance self-esteem on young adults who experience dating violence. Cognitive behavior therapy is considered effective in enhancing self-esteem. Method: This research investigated CBT intervention on 4 participants with the research design of one group pretest-posttestdesign(before and after). "Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kekerasan dalam pacaran dan self esteem pada perempuan dewasa muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian cross sectional study. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 101 perempuan dewasa muda. Pengukuran kekerasan dalam pacaran menggunakan alat ukur The Revised Conflict Tactics Scales 2 dan pengukuran self esteem menggunakan Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale. Hasil dari penelitian membuktikan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kekerasan dalam pacaran dan self esteem perempuan dewasa muda (r = -0,252, p<0,05). Ketiga bentuk kekerasan yaitu psikologis, fisik dan seksual juga berhubungan signifikan dengan self esteem.

This research investigates the relationship between dating violence and self esteem on young women. This study uses a quantitative approach with cross sectional study design. One hundred and one young women were served as a participants in study. Measurement of dating violence using The Revised Conflict Tactics Scales 2 and measurement of self esteem using Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale. The result of study authenticate that there is a significant relationship between dating violence and self esteem on young women (r = -0,252, p<0,05). The third form of violence, that is psychological, physical, and sexual has a significant relationship with self esteem."

"[Kesehatan merupakan hal yang penting dalam kehidupan manusia. Meskipun lebih sering diasosiasikan dengan kesehatan fisik, kesehatan menurut WHO juga meliputi kesehatan mental dan sosial. Kesehatan mental yang baik perlu dimiliki oleh seorang dewasa muda agar mampu memenuhi tugas-tugas perkembangannya secara optimal. Salah satu faktor yang berhubungan positif dengan kesehatan mental adalah self-esteem. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana efektivitas teknik intervensi Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) dalam meningkatkan self-esteem dewasa muda yang memiliki self-esteem negatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain one group before and after study dimana peneliti melihat perubahan pada satu kelompok sebelum dan setelah diberikan intervensi. Adapun alat ukur yang digunakan untuk melihat perubahan self-esteem pada partisipan adalah Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) dan Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI). Wawancara dan observasi juga dilakukan kepada partisipan untuk memperoleh gambaran masalah terkait self-esteem yang dialami.Dua orang partisipan mengikuti program intervensi yang terdiri dari lima sesi pertemuan hingga selesai. Hasilnya, terdapat peningkatan skor RSES dan CSEI pada kedua partisipan. Secara kualitatif, kedua partisipan juga sudah melaporkan sikap yang lebih positif terhadap dirinya sendiri meskipun masih mengalami perasaan-perasaan negatif terkait diri. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik intervensi CBT efektif dalam meningkatkan self-esteem pada dewasa muda dengan self-esteem negatif.

"Self-esteem yang tinggi merupakan hal yang penting dimiliki agar anak usia sekolah dapat sukses melalui krisis industry versus inferiority. Pada anak usia sekolah dari latar belakang kurang beruntung, self-esteem yang tinggi juga menjadi prediktor penting agar mereka dapat bertahan menghadapi tantangan akademik di sekolah. Salah satu strategi yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan self-esteem adalah program Esteem Builders yang dirancang oleh Borba.
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat efektivitas program Esteem Builders dalam meningkatkan security dan selfhood sebagai komponen dari self-esteem pada anak usia sekolah dari latar belakang kurang beruntung. Kedua komponen tersebut juga berkaitan erat dengan dua faktor yang berperan besar bagi perkembangan self-esteem anak di sekolah yaitu, persepsi terhadap diri serta sikap guru. Penelitian ini merupakan single-subject design dengan tipe AB.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa program Esteem Builders efektif untuk meningkatkan security dan selfhood sebagai komponen self-esteem pada partisipan program. Meskipun demikian, peningkatan yang terjadi pada partisipan masih terbatas pada aspek kognitif.

High self-esteem is a vital for school age children to be successful through the industry versus inferiority crisis. For school age children from disadvantaged background, high self-esteem is an important to face academic challenges at school. Esteem Builders program by Borba is one of strategy that can be done to increase self-esteem.
This study is conducted to see the effectiveness of Esteem Builders program to increase security and selfhood as the components of self-esteem on school age children from disadvantaged background. Those components are also closely related to two factors that contribute to the development of student’s self-esteem which are self-perception and teacher’s attitude. This study is an AB type single-subject design.
Based on the result, it can be concluded that the Esteem Builders program effectively increase participant’s security and selfhood. However, the increase that occurred was limited to the cognitive aspect.
