menentukan sifat mekanik seperti kekerasan.

One of the general problem of metal part is wear. Thermal spray high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coating process is one of most advance coating methode for its technology and the high quality of coating, resulting in high wear ressistance coat. The advantages of thermal spray high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) are high density coat, low oxidation coat, wide range of usable coating materials and high adhesive bond strength.
In this study, alloy steel tube ASTM A 213 T91 and low carbon steel JIS G3132 SPHT-2 blasted with alumina and heated for 50 °C, 100 °C dan 150°C. Then the substrate was sprayed with CrC-25%NiCr Orlikon Metco coating in the process of thermal spray high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) methode. The characterization focused on microstructure of coating interface, porosity, hardness distribution and spesific wear rate.
It was found that CrC-25%NiCr coating enhace surface hardness from 120-220 VHN to 500-800 VHN. Moreover CrC-25%NiCr coating decrease the value of spesific wear rate from 1,66 x 10-6 mm3Kgf-1m-1 to 7 x 10-8 mm3Kgf-1m-8. It was found that the increasing of substrate temperature could decrease coating porosity and affects coating hardness and spesific wear rate.

"Thermal spray is a coating process that provides functional surface to protect or improve the performance of a substrate or component. Almost any kind and form of material can be thermally sprayed which is why thermal spray is used worldwide to provide protection from corrosion, wear, and heat, to restore and repair components, and for a variety of other applications. This reference handbook is the complete guide to thermal spray technology. It covers principles, processes, types of coatings, applications, performance, and testing/analysis. Developed under the guidance of the Thermal Spray Society Training Committee, the handbook provides an excellent introduction and guidebook for those who are new to thermal spray. It also provides enough in-depth coverage and data that it should be of great value to specifiers and users of thermal spray coatings and to thermal spray experts who need additional background in certain areas."
