Destructive earthquake that occured in Yogyakarta District on May 27th, 2006, is a tectonic earthquake. The tectonic rupture is identified because of fault activity in South Yogyakarta direction southwest-northeast that caused Yogyakarta earthquake on May 27th, 2006 which is origin time of epicenter 22 55’ 57.3" GMT in position 7,96oLS dan 110,446oBT with magnitude 6,2 Skala Richter and depth 13 km.
An impact of the earthquake shock is the destruction of facilities and infrastructures. The data of maximum intensity and peak ground acceleration of an area prominent in designing earthquake-resisted building. Based on in this cace, the method that is used to estimate peak ground acceleration, is called as McGuire Methode that uses magnitude surface(Ms) as base and attenuation acceleration based on distribution of distance.
McGuire method gave the result of peak ground acceleration countur between 150-200 gal and maximum intensity of VIII - IX MMI that occured in Yogyakarta district and its surrounding which needs more attention in infrastructur the earthquake - resisted building."

The Yogyakarta earthquake of May 27, 2006 has magnitude Mw : 6,2. This earthquake caused about 5000 died people and destroyed infrastructures also liquefaction. Focus of this study is interrelation between liquefaction occurance and geological condition and liquefaction severity index (LSI). This research is descriptive and spatial approach. The research shows that distribution of liquefaction occurrence is clustered in the centre part of Yogyakarta Special Province, it is related to young volcanic deposits of Merapi Volcano distribution and Quarternary deposits distribution. Liquefaction occurance is situated within 6 km distance from the major and minor fault zone. The distribution of liquefaction occurance it isn?t related to liquefaction severity index (LSI)."

"Place has certain connotations that are involved in shaping the identity of an individual or a community. Due to the importance of place or location in identity formation, Cultural Studies has its own area of analysis focusing on the understanding of place, which is cultural geography. Peter Jackson (1989: 23, quoted by Giles and Middleton 1999: 104) defines cultural geography as a study on how cultures are constituted by social practises occurring in certain contexts which are influenced by historical and geographical factors. The discussion of artistic works centred on the role of place in identity formation becomes an interesting analysis. This research focuses on Rudi Soejarwo?s film Mendadak Dangdut ('Suddenly Dangdut'). The film?s setting is a densely populated district in Jakarta. As the plot centres around this setting, an analysis of how place influences the identity formation of the film?s main character becomes significant. The research is made using approaches in cultural geography, along with two key concepts in Cultural Studies, which are identity and representation. It is aimed at finding a new consciousness as to how urban context, especially that related to an understanding of place, takes part in the formation of identity of individuals and communities."
