"ABSTRAKMakalah ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses hubungan romantis di Indonesia dapat terbentuk, bersamaan dengan respon atau reaksi yang berkembang selama seseorang menggunakan Tinder.Tinder merupakan salah satu media alternatif untuk mendefinisikan inisiasi dalam komunikasi romantis/percintaan untuk menemukan pasangan. Wawancara mendalam kepada dua informan telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana aplikasi kencan online dapat memulai komunikasi dalam hubungan romantis/percintaan, yang kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Teori Penetrasi Sosial. Teori ini menjadi kerangka dasar dan menentukan perkembangan dalam hubungan interpersonal; dengan pertukaran perilaku diantara dua orang yang ingin mengembangkan hubungan. Berbagai aspek perilaku telah dianalisis berdasarkan perbedaan jenis kelamin informan. ABSTRACTThis paper aim to define the process of how romantic relationship is formed in Indonesia, along with the response or reaction that occurs throughout the process of using Tinder. Tinder is an alternative medium to define the romantic communication romance initiation on finding a partner.In depth interviews towards two informants were conducted to examine how the online dating application could initiate a romantic relationship communication, which then being analyzed with Social Penetration theory. This theory served as a base model to provide the basic framework and define the development in interpersonal relationships by the behavior interchange between two people who willing to develop a relationship. Various aspect of behaviors were analyzed based on gender differences of the informants. This study resulted in different romantic relationship romance communication outcome that has occurred between the male and female informants that is affected by each individual rsquo s personal preference.
