"The current trend of building more streamlined structures has made stability analysis a subject of extreme importance. It is mostly a safety issue because Stability loss could result in an unimaginable catastrophe. Written by two authors with a combined 80 years of professional and academic experience, the objective of Stability of Structures: Principles and Applications is to provide engineers and architects with a firm grasp of the fundamentals and principles that are essential to performing effective stability analysts. Concise and readable, this guide presents stability analysis within the context of elementary nonlinear flexural analysis, providing a strong foundation for incorporating theory into everyday practice. The first chapter introduces the buckling of columns. It begins with the linear elastic theory and proceeds to include the effects of large deformations and inelastic behavior. In Chapter 2 various approximate methods are illustrated along with the fundamentals of energy methods. The chapter concludes by introducing several special topics, some advanced, that are useful in understanding the physical resistance mechanisms and consistent and rigorous mathematical analysis. Chapters 3 and 4 cover buckling of beam-columns. Chapter 5 presents torsion in structures in some detail, which is one of the least well understood subjects in the entire spectrum of structural mechanics. Strictly speaking, torsion itself does not belong to a topic in structural stability, but needs to be covered to some extent for a better understanding of buckling accompanied with torsional behavior. Chapters 6 and 7 consider stability of framed structures in conjunction with torsional behavior of structures. Chapters 8 to 10 consider buckling of plate elements, cylindrical shells, and general shells. Although the book is primarily devoted to analysis, rudimentary design aspects are discussed. The accompanying website will include additional formulas and problems based on the author's on software which is currently being used in corporations. The website will also include equations and examples based on there personal experiences. In addition, the website will include a solutions manual for those who wish to use the book as a text book for a two-semester course. Engineers, Architects, designers, and researcher will find this print/website combination a valuable guide both in terms of its applications of verification of design of structures. Balanced presentation for both theory and practice Well-blended contents covering elementary to advanced topics Detailed presentation of the development Computer programs will be made available through the senior author's web page"

"Basic Principles of Concrete Structures is one of the key courses for undergraduates
majoring in civil engineering. The objective of this book is to help students to
completely understand the basic mechanical properties and design methods of
structural members made of concrete and reinforcement and to lay the foundation for
future study of the design and construction of various types of reinforced concrete
structures.
The book consists of 12 chapters, i.e., introduction, materials, bond and
anchorage, axially loaded members, flexural members, eccentrically loaded members,
shearing, torsion, punching and local bearing, prestressed concrete members,
serviceability of members, and durability of reinforced concrete structures.
The book is suitable for teachers and college students majoring in civil engineering
and can also be referred by civil engineers.
The textbook is jointly edited by Prof. Xianglin Gu, Prof. Xianyu Jin, and Dr.
Yong Zhou.
As a basic specialty course for undergraduates majoring in civil engineering,
Basic Principles of Concrete Structures is different from either the previously learnt
mechanics courses or the design courses to be learnt. Compared with mechanics
courses, the basic theories of reinforced concrete structures cannot be solely derived
by theoretical analysis. And compared with design courses, this course emphasizes
the introduction of basic theories rather than simply being a translation of design
specifications. That means the course of Basic principles of Concrete Structures
should focus on both theoretical derivation and engineering practice. Therefore,
based on the latest version of designing codes both for buildings and bridges (GB
50010-2010 and JTG D62-2004), the book starts from the steel and concrete
materials, whose properties are very important to the mechanical behavior of
reinforced concrete members. Step by step, the design and analysis of reinforced concrete members under basic loading types (tension, compression, flexure, shearing, and torsion) and environmental actions are introduced. The characteristic
of the book that distinguishes it from other textbooks on reinforced concrete
structures is that more emphasis has been laid on the basic theories of reinforced
concrete structures and the application of the basic theories in design of new
structures and analysis of existing structures. Examples and problems in each chapter are carefully designed to cover every important knowledge point."

"This third edition provides a detailed introduction to the fundamentals of space-time adaptive processing, with emphasis on clutter suppression in airborne or space based phased array radar, covering specifically the principles of airborne or space based MTI radar for detection of slow moving targets for use in the fields of earth observation, surveillance and reconnaissance, with special attention paid to clutter rejection techniques.
The book includes topics such as signal processing, clutter models, array processing, bandwidth effects, non-linear antenna arrays, anti-jamming techniques, adaptive monopulse, bistatic radar configurations, SAR and ISAR, and sonar. After the success of the first and second editions, this third edition has been extensively updated and extended to reflect the numerous advances in the field. A completely new chapter has been added on the impact of the radar range equation, which is of particular importance for radar system designers."
