"The period between the partition of Bengal in 1905 and the Partition of India in 1947 was witness to a unique experience of imagining nations in Bengal. With neither the Bengali Muslims nor the Bengali Hindus envisioning homogenous ideas about nationhood, many contesting and alternative visions emerged, both within and between the two communities. These other nationalisms were not anti-national, but creeds of either a federal Indian nation with regional autonomy, or a regional nation on its own strength. In Different Nationalisms, Semanti Ghosh goes beyond the Muslim-Hindu and nationalism communalism binaries to reveal an unfamiliar terrain of hidden contestations over the concept of nation in colonial Bengal. For several of these competing ideologies, Partition, rather than being an expected or even desired outcome, was an anticlimax in their long-drawn battle for a nation."

"ABSTRACTObjek merupakan elemen interior pembentuk atmosfir. Atmosfir berperan dalam membangun kualitas ruang bagi penggunanya. Dalam interior, objek dapat berperan sebagai komoditas yang memiliki nilai di masyarakat. Chinoiserie merupakan salah satu contoh komoditas yang berkembang di masyarakat. Chinoiserie dianggap kaya akan nilai kebudayaan, spiritualitas, dan sosial. Dalam ruang interior, Chinoiserie hadir pada objek, furnitur, dan elemen dekorasi. Keberadaan Chinoiserie tercermin dari elemen warna dan pola yang digunakannya. Ketika ditempatkan, Chinoiserie membawa nilai-nilai sebagai komoditas sehingga mempengaruhi kualitas ruang dan penggunanya. Dalam menelusuri penggunaan Chinoiserie dalam ruang interior, digunakan dua studi kasus yaitu Apartemen Coco Chanel dan Restoran Orient8, Hotel Mulia, Jakarta. Dari penelusuran kedua studi kasus tersebut ditemukan bagaimana Chinoiserie sebagai komoditas dimaknai oleh pengguna ruang dan pengaruhnya terhadap interior dan perilaku manusia serta menemukan bagaimana aplikasi Chinoiserie sebagai elemen dekorasi dalam ruang interior domestik dan ruang interior publik.

ABSTRACTObjects as interior element are used to form atmosphere. Atmosphere plays a role to build the quality of space for it rsquo s user. In the interior, objects act as commodities that have value in society. Chinoiserie is one example of a growing commodity in the community. Chinoiserie is considered rich in cultural, spiritual, and social values. In interior space, Chinoiserie is presented in objects, furniture, and decorating elements. The existence of Chinoiserie is reflected in it rsquo s color elements and patterns. When placed in the interior, Chinoiserie carries values as a commodity that affects the quality of space and its users. In searching for the use of Chinoiserie in interior space, two case studies are used Coco Chanel Apartment and Orient8 Restaurant, Mulia Hotel, Jakarta. From the search of two case studies, it is found how Chinoiserie as commodity interpreted by the users and its influence on the interior and human behavior, also the findings how the application of Chinoiserie as a decorative elements in the domestic interior and public interior.
