"Berbagai media cetak atau pun elektronik yang memotret gaya hidup manusia modem mencerminkan relasi manusia modern yang cenderung eksploitatif, pragmatic, fungsional, dan berorientasi pada keuntungan pribadi. Implikasi yang muncul adalah kencederungan yang menjadi konformis dan logika pasar bermain dalam pola pikir dan tingkah laku manusia. Kecenderungan yang konformis inilah yang mewujud dalam diri manusia modern sebagaimana tergambar dalam berbagai media gaya hidup manusia modern. Setiap manusia mempunyai 'standar_standar' Baku penilaian dan relasinya dengan sesama manusia. Dirinya sendiri pun dituntut untuk memenuhi 'standar_standar' yang berlaku dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Menurut Fromm, hal ini tidak lepas dari pengaruh kapitalisme yang berawal dari keinginan manusia untuk lepas dari pengaruh dogma agama pada Abad Pertengahan. Keinginan ini muncul karena pada dasarnya manusia mempunyai kebebasan yang tak dapat dibendung lagi untuk melebarkan batas _ batas kemanusi annya. Ironisnya, pada saat manusia bebas maka ia justru menjadi ke k esepian. Hal ini dikarenakan manusia mengalami proses individuasi yang melepaskan manusia dari keadaan alamiahnya, yaitu rahim ibunya dan lingkungan pertama ia hidup. Kesepian dan keterpisahan yang manusia alami untuk menjadi individu yang utuh dan berintegrasi dapat diatasi dengan cara produktif yaitu dengan cinta dan karya produktif, atau dengan cara tidak produktif yaitu menyerahkan hidup dan kebebasannya pada 'sistem' yang merenggut keindividualitasan manusia. Fromm sendiri menyarankan cinta sebagai solusi permasalahan eksistensi manusia. Karena dalam cinta mewujud kebebasan untuk menjadi diri sendiri, untuk mencintai sesama, dan alam. Sehingga, manusia tidak terjebak dalam kecenderungan eksploitatif; pragmatis, dan konformis, yang mengarah pada mengkomoditikan pribadi atau alam. Cinta bagi Fromm adalah 'melebur' dan membuat sesuatu yang hidup tumbuh dalam pribadi manusia. Hal ini terwujud dalam aktivitas memberi (giving). Sebab memberi adalah ekspresi tertinggi manusia untuk mengeluarkan segala potensi kemanusiaannya demi penemuan 'rahasia' manusia melalui sikap care, respect, responsibility, dan knowledge. Keempat elemen tersebut akan mewujud dalam ekspresi tertinggi manusia yaitu memberi, termasuk memberi kebebasan. Kebebasan paling eksistensial yang dimaksud Fromm yaitu 'kebebasan untuk...' yang berlandaskan cinta. Tokoh Maria dalam novel Eleven Minutes karya Paulo Coelho adalah sarana penulis untuk meretleksikan pemikiran cinta Erich Fromm. Perjalanan hidup Maria dalam menghayati cintanya yang berliku_liku dan berujung pada pengakuan diri Maria bahwa yang terutama dalam hidup ini adalah bagaimana mencintai dengan sepenuh hati yang berarti memberikan kebebasan pada diri dan sesama, tanpa tendensi menjadi posesif. Hal inilah yang ingin penulis jadikan cermin dalam kehidupan relasi manusia modern yang ironis..."

"ABSTRAKSikap Ambivalen Tokoh Linda dalam Proses Pencapaian Subjektivitas Perempuannya pada Novel Adultery 2014 Karya Paulo Coelho Adultery 2014 merupakan novel karya Paulo Coelho, seorang novelis terkenal asal Portugis yang karyanya tersebar di berbagai belahan dunia.Tesis ini berusaha mengungkapkan sikap ambivalen tokoh utama dalam novel ini, yaitu Linda dalam proses pencapaian subjektivitas perempuannya. Landasan teori yang digunakan adalah pendekatan feminisme eksistensialis Simone de Beauvoir dan fokalisasi. Analisis fokalisasi dengan memasang konsep feminisme eksistensialis Beauvoir menunjukkan kecenderungan tokoh yang merepresentasikan nilai-nilai dari konsep tersebut. Analisis fokalisasi pada beberapa tokoh pada tataran narasi yang berbeda menunjukkan adanya sikap ambivalen Linda. Kesimpulan dari keseluruhan analisis memperlihatkan sikap ambivalen Linda dalam usaha mencapai subjektivitas dirinya yang pada akhirnya berhasil ia raih.Kata kunci: Feminisme eksistensialis, fokalisasi, Paulo Coelho, sikap ambivalen, subjektivitas perempuan.

ABSTRACTThe Ambivalent Attitude of Linda in Attaining Her Female Subjectivity in Adultery 2014 by Paulo CoelhoAdultery 2014 is a novel by Paulo Coelho, a famous novelist from Portugal whose works are spread through parts of the world. This thesis tries to reveal the ambivalent attitude of the main character in this novel, Linda, in achieving her subjectivity. The theoretical frameworks used are feminist existentialism by Simone de Beauvoir and focalization technique. Focalization analysis by applying feminist existentialism concept by Beauvoir showed a trend figures that represent the values of the concept. Focalization analysis on some of the figures at different level of narration shows the ambivalent attitude of Linda. The conclusion of the overall analysis show the ambivalent attitude of Linda in achieving her subjectivity which in the end she managed to achieve.Keywords Ambivalent attitude, female subjectivity, feminist existentialism, focalization, Paulo Coelho."

"Fromm melihat manusia adalah makhluk yang teralienasi, disebabkan oleh ketidakmampuan manusia mengontrol sosialitas kerja dan ilmu pengetahuannya. Alienasi juga terjadi karena kesadaran akan kenyataan bahwa dirinya terpisah dari alam, berbeda dengan yang lain. Meskipun manusia makhluk yang teralienasi karena keterpisahannya dengan alam, tidak berarti manusia adalah makhluk yang terlempar tanpa pencipta. Menurut Fromm, manusia adalah makhluk yang tidak hadir dengan sendirinya. Ia dicipta; hasil sebuah kreasi dan Tuhan adalah kreatornya. Bahkan, sebagai makhluk yang dicipta, manusia memiliki tingkat misteri yang hampir sama dengan Tuhan. Melalui cinta, Fromm membuktikan bahwa kebutuhan akan relasi pada manusia merupakan kebutuhan yang tak terelakkan. Cinta menjadi hubungan yang paling mendasar. Cinta menyadarkan aku pada diriku dan aku pada engkau, bahwa aku membutuhkan engkau untuk mengaktualkan diriku. Pada relasi yang lebih tinggi, aku mewarisi kualitas Tuhan dalam diriku. "Skripsi ini membahas novel 'Jangan Ucapkan Cinta' karya Mira W yang memiliki unsur kekerasan terhadap perempuan di dalamnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat dampak dari kekerasan terhadap kondisi psikologis tokoh perempuan dalam novel Jangan Ucapkan Cinta melalui pendekatan gender dan psikologi sastra. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terlihat bahwa kekerasan terhadap perempuan dapat mengakibatkan berbagai macam dampak pada kondisi psikologis tokoh. Dampak tersebut meliputi perubahan sikap, perburukan kondisi kejiwaan, usaha untuk meminimalkan kekerasan yang dialami, terisolasi, timbul perasaan tidak berdaya, sikap menyalahkan diri sendiri, timbul ambivalensi atau kebingungan, penurunan harga diri, serta muncul harapan bahwa keadaan akan semakin membaik.

This undergraduate thesis discusses a novel called 'Jangan Ucapkan Cinta' by Mira W. The mentioned novels plot mainly focuses on love conflicts between the characters, but also depicts violence against women as a form of gender bias. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the result of violence to womens psychological condition through women characters in the novel. As a result, it is concluded that the impact of womens violence includes change of attitude, worsened mental health, attempt to hide the truth about violence, getting isolated, feeling powerless, self-blaming, ambivalence or confusion, decreased confidence, and hoping the situation would become better."
