"Perkembangan di bidang teknologi informasi yang begitu pesat telah membuat persaingan di dunia usaha semakin ketat, karena dengan adanya internet serta globalisasi telah mempengaruhi proses bisnis dalam suatu perusahaan baik yang bersifat lokal maupun internasional. PT. FMI dengan Divisi Farmasinya, selama ini melayani terutama kebutuhan obat -obatan pegawai dan pensiunan Bank Indonesia melalui gerai-gerai Apotek Farmarin. Adanya keinginan perusahaan untuk meningkatkan kinerja pelayanan dan pengendalian atas kegiatan Apotek Farmarin ditambah dengan akan adanya perluasan bisnis Divisi Farmasi menjadi Pedagang Besar Farmasi, membutuhkan upaya-upaya untuk mencapai keinginan tersebut. Salah satu upaya tersebut adalah mengkaji sistem informasi yang sudah ada dalam kegiatan operasional harian Apotek Farmarin. Pembuatan sistem informasi yang terintegrasi, selain meningkatkan kinerja dan meningkatkan pengendalian, juga akan mendukung upaya Divisi Farmasi untuk memperluas kegiatan bisnisnya menjadi Pedagang Besar Farmasi (PBF), karena sistem yang terintegrasi tersebut sudah mencakup fungsi supply chain management meskipun masih dalam skala yang terbatas. Fungsi tersebut akan mendukung keunggulan bersaing dari sebuah PBF, jika sistem ini diperluas untuk mencakup perusahaan di hulu dan hilir dari PBF tadi. Analis sistem menggunakan metodologi FAST untuk merumuskan langkah-langkah yang ditempuh dalam penyelesaian Laporan Akhir ini.. Untuk mengidentifikasi masalah, peluang-peluang dan arahan yang ada dalam sistem yang ada sekarang, analis sistem kembali menggunakan PIECES framework dalam menganalisa lebih lanjut hal-hal yang telah diidentifikasi dalam lingkup proyek. Untuk mendukung kegiatan operasional berbagai gerai Apotek Farmarin dan menjalankan fungsi-fungsi pelaporan yang dibutuhkan oleh Divisi Farmasi, analis sistem akan menggunakan sebuah sistem Basis Data untuk menyimpan seluruh data yang berkaitan dengan transaksi yang terjadi pada apotek, data pendukung kegiatan operasi dan data pendukung fungsi supply chain management. Teknologi Basis Data yang akan dipergunakan adalah teknologi relasional basisdata.

The development of information technology has grown very fast, make competition in the business world more tighter, because of the internet and the globalization that affects the business process in the organization either locally or internationally. PT FMI with its Pharmacy Division, after all the time serve the needs of medicine for Bank Indonesia?s employee and retirement through Apotek Farmarin outlets. With the company wants to improve services and controls every activities of Apotek Farmarin and the plan to expand its business to becoming a big medicine seller, needs to do something to gain the objectives. One thing that should try is to analyze existing daily operational information systems in Apotek Farmarin. The making of integrated information system, aside improving performance and controlling, also will support Pharmacy Division to expand its business and becoming big Pharmacy seller, because within this integrated information include Supply Chain Management function although its in the limited scale. Those functions will support the competitive advantages of becoming a big pharmacy seller, if this system expanded and included all the process from start to ends. System analyst use FAST methodology to formulate steps that will be taken in finishing this report. To identify problems, opportunities and directives in existing information system, analyst again uses PIECES framework for further analizing every task that has been identified in the project charter. To support every outlets daily operational activities and to run reporting function that will be needed by Pharmacy Division, system analyst uses database systems to store datas relations with every transactions in Apotek, operational activities supporting data and supply chain management supporting data. Database technology that will be used is relational database."
