The southern coast of Pacitan regency is one of the areas directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean and has a bay called Pacitan Bay. The process of erosion and sedimentation should be known to see the physical condition of the beach. The size and diameter of the sediment grains are part of the sedimentary properties that can provide information about the sediment transport process. Sediment distribution provides an overview of the origin of sediments, transportation history, and deposition conditions. This study aims to analyze the sedimentation environment and analyze the variables that have the most influence on the diameter of the sediment grains. Methods of sampling stratified random areas on each segment along 150x150 meters for collection of sediment samples and slope data of coastal gradients. The grouping of sediments from the sieving result conducted in LIPI P2O laboratory based on Wentworth scale and granulometry test. Coastal currents and wave energy are obtained from BMKG Ocean Forecast System data source. The results showed that sediment with sand types dominates on all beaches. Mean values on oceanfront beaches range from 0.18 2.43, sorting is well sorted to poorly sorted, skewness is very fine skewed to very coarse skewed, and kurtosis is very leptokurtic and extremely leptokurtic. Beachfront bay, mean value 2.20 4.49 from west to east side, sorting is very well sorted to moderately sorted, skewness is very fine skewed to coarse skewed, and kurtosis is very leptokurtic and extremely leptokurtic.

Anthropogenic use of heavy metal as raw material is increasing causing persistence and accumulation in the environment which will further cause higher exposure to living species. Sediment as a historical stock and accumulation site of heavy metal is important to be assessed due to its risk to enter and contaminate the water column. When assessing heavy metal risk to living beings, it is also necessary to assess the speciation of heavy metal in addition to total concentration to obtain a more comprehensive understanding. This research aimed to identify the contamination potential by specifying the fraction of heavy metal in water column and sediment.
Sample was taken from Danau Mahoni UI in rainy and dry season in four sites with three depth point for each site. The elements assessed includes Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn. This research finally concluded that the water of Danau Mahoni UI is in low risk and can be used as water source according to the standard of Government Regulation number 82 (2001) as the dissolved and acid extractable fraction with high mobility and bioavailability is less than 1% by its total content. The mobility factor of sediment that is less than 1% shows that the sediment is in low risk to recontaminate the water columns.

"Heavy metals in suspended sediments (SS) were investigated in the lower Chao Phraya River,
Thailand, and Main particulate metals. The particulate fractions accounted mostly for 60-100% of total concentrations of Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Pb in both dry and rainy seasons. The comparison of metal contents of the sampled SS and upper continental crust (UCC) implied some anthropogenic inputs of Cr, Ni,Cu, and Zn as well as the dilution process for those metals in the rainy season in Chao Phraya River. Enrichment factor in both rivers also indicated anthropogenic effects on metal content in SS,
reflecting the distinctive seasonal process in Chao Phraya River and the spatial variation within
Maxil."

Heavy metals are a type of pollutant in water closely related to Total Suspended Solids (TSS). The close relationship between these two parameters can be a potential indirect assessment of heavy metals in water. This research aims to determine the relationship between TSS and the weight of Nickel (Ni) and Copper (Cu) bound within it. Additionally, the distribution of TSS in water is estimated using remote sensing techniques to indirectly depict the distribution of these heavy metals. The study also aims to identify the influence of water parameters on the distribution of TSS and heavy metals. The research began with sampling on 31 March – 1 April 2023, at 36 predetermined sampling points. Water samples were analyzed for TSS content using gravimetric methods, and the content of Ni and Cu bound in TSS was analyzed using Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). Water parameters, including depth, current, waves, tides, temperature, pH, and salinity, were measured and analyzed to determine their influence on the content and distribution patterns of TSS and heavy metals in water. The results showed that TSS content ranged from 6 to 45 mg/l, with the highest content found around mining areas such as jetty in Tapuemea Village and the mouth of the Lasolo River. The content of heavy metals Ni and Cu ranged from 0.03 to 0.1 mg/kg and 0.006 to 0.5 mg/kg, respectively. Spatially, both metals were found highest in waters far from mining areas, specifically in the coastal area of Molawe Village. The spatial distribution pattern of TSS and heavy metals, which did not show correlation, indicates that the TSS distribution cannot directly depict the spatial distribution pattern of heavy metals in Teluk Lasolo. Based on statistical analysis, TSS distribution is influenced by water pH, Ni is influenced by currents, and Cu is not influenced by any parameter. Spatial modeling results suggest that waves and tides have an impact on the distribution of TSS and heavy metals."

Changes in the environment by human activities is associated with heavy metal accumulation and can potentially leave anthropogenic traces in marine sediment records. Research focusing on the chemostratigraphic condition was done to determine the impacts made by anthropogenic activities in Banggai Waters, that are considered high because of its function as fishing grounds and is located near Taliabu Islands, which are agricultural lands with high mining potential. This research was done by Pb-210 dating, heavy metal, grain size distribution, dan TOC content analyses, to analyse and reconstruct environmental changes. Pb-210 dating was conducted by alpha spectrometer (AAS), heavy metal analysis was conducted by optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), grain size distribution analysis was conducted by laser diffraction (LDS), and TOC content analysis was conducted by the LOI method. Results show that heavy metal concentration distribution in sediment core BC-06 yield low values for geo-accumulation index (Igeo) and enrichment factor (EF), and showed that the metals found has a mixed source of natural and anthropogenic. Heavy metal traces with anthropogenic influence can be divided into three periods, such as: (I) 1831-1927 AD, (II) 1927-1994 AD, dan (III) 1994-2022 AD, which are interpreted as related to the military expansion during The Dutch’s colonialism, alongside the development of various economic sectors in modern Indonesia."
