"Isu sistem pemerintah yang Totaliter di Inggris selama bertahun-tahun diadaptasi dalam film V for Vendetta (2005). Cara kepemimpinan yang ketat seperti membuat kebijakan yang hanya memihak pemerintah adalah cara bagaimana sistem pemerintah totaliter mengontrol dan mengatur pihak masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan kondisi negara yang teratur. Kuasa pihak pemerintah yang totaliter sudah merenggut kebebasan yang dimiliki oleh pihak masyarakat. Akibat penindasan kepada pihak masyarakat, pemberontakan pun terjadi, dan film ini memperlihatkan bahwa pihak masyarakat juga dapat menggunakan kuasa mereka untuk meruntuhkan dan mendominasi pihak pemerintah. Jadi, terdapat pergeseran kuasa dari pihak pemerintah ke pihak masyarakat. V for Vendetta adalah film yang memperlihatkan bahwa pihak masyarakat yang lemah dapat melawan balik pihak pemerintah yang kuat dengan membunuh beberapa aparat pemerintah dan juga properti-properti pemerintah. Dengan menggunakan teori Michel Foucault tentang relasi kuasa, penelitian ini menampilkan bagaimana film V for Vendetta mengilustrasikan pihak masyarakat yang memulai pemberontakan kepada pihak pemerintah dari satu tokoh yaitu V hingga mencakup seluruh pihak masyarakat di Inggris. Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti akan menampilkan bahwa kuasa tidak hanya dimiliki oleh pihak yang kuat, tetapi kuasa juga dapat dimiliki oleh pihak yang lemah.

The issue of totalitarian government as depicted in the movie V for Vendetta (2005) was shown to have existed in Britain for years. Leading strictly and making several regulations arbitrarily were the ways of the totalitarian government to control and regulate the society in order to create a like-minded country. The power of the totalitarian government had snatched the identity and freedom of the society. Due to the oppression to the society in Britain, resistance occurred, and the movie shows that the society can also use their power to overthrow the totalitarian government. Thus, there was a shift of power from the totalitarian government to the society. V for Vendetta is the movie which shows that the powerless society can also fight back a powerful government by killing several governments’ people and also its properties. Using Michel Foucault’s theory of power relation, the paper shows how the movie V for Vendetta illustrates how the society begins the rebellion toward the government from one person whom V until whole of the society in Britain. Through this research, I will show that power is not always owned by the powerful party, but it can also be owned by the powerless party."

""Une Vendetta" adalah karya Guy de Maupassant yang dimuat dalam antologi cerpen Maupassant berjudul "Contes du Jour et de la Nuit". Cerpen ini membawa pembaca kepada realita kehidupan pedesaan tradisional di Korsika pada abad ke-19. Masyarakat Korsika pada abad ke-19 hidup jauh dari perindustrian dan perundang-undangan Prancis, penduduk setempat menerapkan tradisi "vendetta" sebagai solusi dalam memecahkan permasalahan hidup. "Une Vendetta" mengisahkan seorang ibu yang anak satu-satunya mati terbunuh. Pembunuh melarikan diri ke kota lain, Longosardo, di Sardinia, Italia. Kisah mengambil latar di kota Bonifacio, Korsika. Dalam masa berkabung, sang ibu merencanakan pembalasan dendam (vendetta). Tokoh ibu mewakili perempuan-perempuan Korsika yang memiliki karakter keras, sifat pantang menerima malu atau penghinaan dari orang lain, dan sangat peka terhadap harga dirinya. Tulisan ini memaparkan bagaimana tradisi vendetta di Korsika digambarkan melalui tokoh "Ibu" dan memaparkan unsur-unsur realisme yang ditampilkan Maupassant dalam karyanya.

"Une Vendetta" is work of art by Guy de Maupassant in the anthology of Maupassant‟s short stories entitled "Contes du jour et de la Nuit", which was published in 1902 in Paris, France, by Louis Conard. The short story takes the reader to the reality of traditional rural life in Corsica in the 19th century. Corsican society in the 19th century lived far from the industry and French legislation, local residents practice vendetta as a solution to solve problems in life. "Une Vendetta" tells the story of a mother whose only son was killed. The assassin fled to another city, Longosardo, in Sardinia, Italy. The short story takes place in Bonifacio, Corsica. In times of mourning, the mother planned a revenge (vendetta). The character "mother" represents Corsican women with a hard character, a nature of abstinence to accept embarassement or humiliation from others, and are very sensitive to their pride. This paper aims to describe how the tradition of vendetta in Corsica is illustrated by the character "mother", and aims to find elements of realism featured by Maupassant in "Une Vendetta"."

"Artikel ini berisi uraian mengenai penyajian warna lokal Korsika yang tercermin dalam sebuah cerita pendek berjudul Une Vendetta karya Guy de Mauppasant. Cerita pendek yang mengisahkan tradisi untuk melakukan vendetta di Korsika pada abad ke-19 ini memperlihatkan bahwa balas dendam atas kematian anggota keluarga akibat dibunuh sangat penting karena hal ini menyangkut martabat keluarga serta agama dan kepercayaan masyarakat Korsika. Agama Katolik di Korsika pada masa itu sudah berakulturasi dengan kebudayaan setempat sehingga masyarakat Korsika percaya bahwa arwah anggota keluarga yang meninggal hanya dapat tenang di surga apabila balas dendam dapat terlaksana. Selain itu, pada abad ke-19, kehidupan masyarakat Korsika masih sangat sederhana dan sumber kehidupan sehari-hari mereka adalah berburu. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi masyarakat Korsika untuk memiliki anjing peliharaan karena anjing selalu dimanfaatkan untuk berburu. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan struktural dari Roland Barthes.

This article contains a description of the Corsican local color that is reflected in Une Vendetta, a short story by Guy de Mauppasant. The short story that tells of a tradition in Corsica to make a vendetta in the 19th century shows that revenge for the death of a family member who was killed is very important because it concerns the dignity of the family, religion and belief Corsican society. Religion in Corsica at that time already acculturated to the local culture so they believe that the spirits of the Corsican family members who died only be calm in paradise when revenge can be accomplished. Moreover, in the 19th century, the daily life in Corsica was very severe and the source of their daily lives is hunting. Therefore, it is important for Corsican society to have a pet dog because the dog always used to hunt. The study uses a structural approach of Roland Barthes."
