"Mobil beratap Convertible sesungguhnya adalah model kendaraan untuk terlihat lebih stylish. Terdapat dua bentuk atap yang digunakan pada mobil-mobil Convertible pada umumnya, yaitu berbahan kanvas (softtop) dan berbahan keras berupa carbon fiber (hardtop) seperti yang penulis desain untuk mobil Toyota Soarer UZZ31 di tulisan ini. Setiap bentuk desain atap memiliki ciri khas desainnya sendiri, dan terdapat mekanisme pelipatan 3 pieces roof pada tulisan ini dengan menggunakan sumber penggerak motor. Desain nantinya akan merubah sedikit pada angle kaca depan Toyota Soarer sebanyak 3° yang nantinya juga akan menurunkan sedikit nilai center of gravity mobil itu sendiri, serta desain juga akan disertai dengan penggambaran FBD analisa kinematika pelipatan atap. Pada akhirnya, akan didapat nilai torsi motor yang diperlukan untuk menggerakkan atap convertible tersebut.

Convertible roof car is a very stylish car from its looks. In Convertible car there are two kinds of rooftops that they used for the roof, there is the softtop with canvas and hardtop roof, which in this thesis the author will used Carbon Fiber as the material for designing the Toyota Soarer?s rooftop. Each of these design has their own characteristics, and there will be 3 pieces roof folding method in this thesis with the usage of electric motor as their mechanism movement source. In designing there will be also a lowering 3° of front window angle in Toyota Soarer to lowering the Centre of Gravity for the car itself, and the author will also add the Free Body Diagram of kinematic analysis from the mechanism of roof folding. Later, the thesis will conclude with the amount of torque needed to fold the convertible roof."
