"ABSTRAK
Dewasa ini proses pengiriman suara masih banyak dilakukan dalam bentuk analog, namun demikian tendesi untuk berpindah ke sistim digital sudah banyak dilakukan. Hal ini terlihat misalnya dengan makin banyaknya peralatan digital yang diinstalasi di Indonesia, demikian juga sistim transmisi sudah banyak beralih ke sistim digital. Untuk satu kanai suara akan memerlukan saluran data dengan kecepatan 64 kbps bila digunakan metoda PCM. Hal ini pada keadaan tertentu dirasakan merupakan sebagai suatu hambatan, baik dari segi biaya atau pun pada keadaan kecepatan saluran data yang tersedia tidak mencapai 64 kbps. Pada PCM sinyal suara dicuplik sebanyak 8000 kah per detik clan setiap hasil pencuplikan dinyatakan dengan 8 bit hal ini yang menyebabkan diperlukan saluran dengan kecepatan 64 kbps untuk menyalurkan suara secara digital. Pada Tugas Akhir ini dicoba metoda Adaptive Sampling Rate agar sinyal suara dapat disalurkan secara digital pada kecepatan rendah. Pada metoda ini frekuensi pencuplikan mengikuti frekuensi suara, selain itu pada saat ticlak ada pembicaraan tidak dilakukan pengiriman data. Karena frekuensi pembicaraan lebih dominan pada frekuensi rendah, maka kecepatan rata rata yang diperiukan akan lebih rendah. Dengan metoda ini, sinyal suara dapat disalurkan melalui saluran data asinkron pada kecepatan mulai dari 14400 bps, sesuai dengan pengujian alat yang telah dilakukan pada Tugas Akhir.
