ABSTRACTCurrent global trends indicate an increase in female labor participation. Although in Al Quran Islam suggests that women spend more time at home, but Islam itself basically does not prohibit Muslim women to work. For a religious Muslim woman, she chooses not to work and if she chooses to work, she chooses entrepreneurship instead of being an employee to enable her to balance her obligations in the family. This study aims to determine whether the religiosity of Islam influence the decision of a Muslim woman to work and to choose self employment. With a sample of 6637 Muslim women from IFLS data and probit models, researchers found that the religiosity of Islam significantly influenced the decision of Muslim women to work where more religious Muslim women tended not to work and if they worked they would choose to become entrepreneur. In addition, there were differences in factors influencing the decision of Muslim women in entrepreneurship in cities and villages. The existence of the influence of religiosity on the decision of Muslim women self employment open the opportunity to increase the participation of Muslim women workers and require support policies that facilitate Muslim women entrepreneurship such as access to capital through a financing program."

"Women Judges in the Muslim World: A Comparative Study of Discourse and Practice fills a gap in academic scholarship by examining public debates and judicial practices surrounding the performance of women as judges in eight Muslim-majority countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco). Gender, class, and ethnic biases are inscribed in laws, particularly in the domain of sharia-derived family law. Editors Nadia Sonneveld and Monika Lindbekk have carefully woven together the extensive fieldwork and expertise of each author. The result is a rich tapestry that brings out the various effects of women judges in the management of justice. In contrast to early scholarship, they convincingly prove that the woman judge does not exist. "

El-Saadawi, Nawal
"This powerful non-fiction account of the oppression of women in the Muslim world remains as shocking today as when it was first published, more than a quarter of a century ago. Nawal El Saadawi writes out of a powerful sense of the violence and injustice which permeated her society. Her experiences working as a doctor in villages around Egypt, witnessing prostitution, honour killings and sexual abuse, including female circumcision, drove her to give voice to this suffering. She goes on to explore the causes of the situation through a discussion of the historical role of Arab women in religion and literature. Saadawi argues that the veil, polygamy and legal inequality are incompatible with the essence of Islam or any human faith. The Hidden Face of Eve remains a classic of modern Arab writing."
