Kebijakan Upah Minimum Provinsi (UMP) dapat mempengaruhi penyerapan pekerja. UMP memberikan perlindungan kepada pekerja untuk mendapatkan upah yang layak seiring dengan kebutuhan pokok yang terus meningkat setiap tahunnya. Namun, kenaikan UMP menjadi tantangan bagi perusahaan. Perusahaan bisa melakukan efisiensi dengan cara memutuskan hubungan kerja dengan pekerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besar pengaruh dari perubahan Upah Minimum Provinsi (UMP) terhadap jumlah pekerja di 34 provinsi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa Upah Minimum Provinsi tidak signifikan berpengaruh terhadap total jumlah pekerja, namun signifikan berpengaruh terhadap jumlah pekerja formal dan jumlah pekerja informal di 34 provinsi. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa UMP berpengaruh negatif terhadap jumlah pekerja formal dan berpengaruh positif terhadap jumlah pekerja informal. Penelitian ini juga melihat lebih rinci dengan membedakan jumlah pekerja formal yang memiliki upah di bawah dan di atas UMP. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa UMP signifikan berpengaruh positif bagi pekerja yang memiliki upah di bawah UMP dan berpengaruh negatif bagi pekerja yang memiliki upah di atas UMP

The Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) can affect labor absorption. UMP provides protection for workers to receive a decent wage in line with the increasing basic needs each year. However, the rise in UMP presents a challenge for companies. Companies may resort to efficiency measures, such as terminating employment relationships with workers. This study aims to determine the extent to which changes in the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) affect the number of workers in 34 provinces in Indonesia. The study found that the Provincial Minimum Wage does not have a significant effect on the total number of workers, but it does significantly affect the number of formal and informal workers across the 34 provinces. The study shows that the UMP has a negative effect on the number of formal workers and a positive effect on the number of informal workers. The study further explores by differentiating between formal workers who earn below and above the UMP. The results indicate that the UMP has a significant positive effect on workers earning below the UMP and a negative effect on workers earning above the UMP.
